A memorial is an enduring tribute to a person who has died. It provides tangible evidence of a life lived, and a sense of focus for the bereaved to remember and reflect.

A memorial helps to form a link between the past, present and future. For many people, it plays an important part in the grieving process.

Many people choose to create a memorial in a cemetery, memorial garden, or other special place. Memories e-ternal offers a new memorialisation option in a place that transcends distance and boundaries – the Internet.

Hosted on the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board website, Memories e-ternal is a contemporary, yet dignified way to share memories of someone special with friends and relatives around Australia and the world.

You can customise your memorial with images, words, sound and video that celebrate the life and personality of the person who has died.

A password-protected guestbook allows visitors to the memorial to record their thoughts and wishes. All visitors may read the guestbook, but only those with the password may record comments.

Enhancements now allow Memories e-ternal to offer video clips and sound – for instance, the person's favourite song, or a video recording taken during their life. To provide a richer experience, we have set up a streaming video and audio facility, so that you can start viewing or listening almost immediately, rather than having to download the whole video or audio clip first.

Around the world, the Internet is bringing people together in many positive ways.  Memories e-ternal is a “virtual” memorial garden, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, uniting people in grief, remembrance and respect.
